Some lakes may also have primitive areas available for launching, often dependent on water level. Some lakes may also have a designated launch area for portage of canoes, kayak and other car-top boats. Always seek permission before using private boat launch ramps. Boating allows access for fishing all areas of the lake, much of which may not be available to anglers fishing from the bank.
Lake Apalachia Boat Ramp
This concrete ramp is located one-quarter mile southwest of the Hiwassee Dam, off Powerhouse Road.
Badin Lake Boat Ramp
This three-lane concrete ramp, with a dock and paved parking, is located in the southwest corner of the lake, off Highway 740.
Circle Drive Boat Ramp
With paved parking for forty vehicles with trailers, this is a concrete ramp with a doc. It is located in the northeast corner of the lake off Shoreline Drive
Cove Boat Ramp
Located at the end of Cove Road, along the east side of the lake, this is a two-lane concrete ramp with a dock and paved parking.
Gar Creek Boat Launch
This is a primitive, one-lane launch ramp and limited parking. Access is off Road 1164 in the northwest area of the lake.
North Shoreline Drive Ramp
Located in the middle-eastern quadrant of the lake, off Road 1177, this is a one-lane concrete ramp with limited parking and a dock.
Old Whitney Boat Ramp
This is a concrete ramp with paved parking and a dock, at the end of Old Whitney Road, in the northwest corner of the lake.
Carolina Marina
Located in the northeast corner of the lake, this multi-lane concrete boat launch ramps offers plenty of paved parking and docks. It is accessed via Shelton Road.
Piney Bluff Boat Launch
Located in the southwest corner of the lake, off Belews Creek Road, this is a two-lane, concrete boat ramp with a dock and paved parking.
Pine Hall Public Boat Ramp
This is a one-lane, concrete boat ramp with a dock and paved parking. It is located in the northwest quadrant of the lake off Pine Hall Road.
Boating Access - Grassy Island
This is a one-lane concrete ramp with a dock and limited parking. It is located in the northeast corner of the lake off Grassy Island Road.
Pee Dee Access Area
Locate in the southwest corner of the lake, this is a three-lane, concrete boat launch ramp with ample paved parking for sixty or more vehicles.
Buckhorn Lake & Shelter Boat Ramp
Located along the northeast shores of the lake, near the dam, this three-lane boat ramp has docks, paved parking and a bait shop.
Jackrabbit Boating Access
From highway 65 on the east side of the lake, use Jack Rabbit Road to access this two-lane concrete ramp with primitive parking.
Ledford Chapel Road boat ramp
Ample paved parking and two docks make this two-lane boat launch ramp a good choice. It is located in the northern sector of the lake off Ledford Chapel Road.
Rymers Ferry Lake Access
Use Meadow Branch Road (County Rd 1247) to reach this primitive ramp with limited parking.
Barton's Creek Boat Ramp
Located in the southwest sector of the lake, off the intersection of Durham Road and Six Forks Road, this is an excellent four-lane ramp with docks and paved parking for 100 vehicles.
Hickory Hill Boat Ramp
This is a multi-lane boat ramp with a dock. It has plenty of paved parking and is conveniently located near the intersection of I-85 and Redwood Roar on the northwest part of the lake.
Beaver Dam Boat Launch
Locate in Beaverdam Lake State Recreation Area, off Highway 50, this is a nice facility with two concrete lanes, a dock and paved parking.
Highway 50 Boat Launch State Recreation Area
A six-lane boat ramp, with docks and tons of paved parking make this a convenient place to launch.
Ledge Rock Boat Ramp
Four lanes of concrete rams, docks and lots of paved parking enhance this ideally located mid-lake in the northeast sector of the lake, on Olive Grove Church Road.
Cable Cove Boating Access
County Rd 1287, Fontana Dam, NC 28733
This is a concrete ramp with primitive parking, just passed the Cable Cove Campground on Cable Cove Road.
Lemmons Branch Boat Launch
Conveniently located in the southwest sector of the lake, this two-lane concrete ramp has paved parking for over fifty vehicles. Take Highway 28 to Tsali Road to Lemons Branch Boatdock Road.

Tsali Boating Access Ramp
Located in the southwest sector of the lake, at the end of Tsali Road, this is a primitive launch area and parking.
Graham-Mebane Lake Boat Launch Ramp
Located just north of the Bason Road Bridge, this multilane ramp has docks and paved parking.
Harris Lake Boat Ramp
233 Crosspoint Rd, New Hill, NC 27562
Located off Highway 42, in the southwest corner of the lake, this launch area offers a four-lane ramp, docks and plenty of paved parking.
Shearon Harris Boat Launch
Four lanes of concrete launch ramps. three docks and about one hundred paved parking spots.
North Carolina Wildlife Boat Access Ramp
Located at the northeast end of Bringle Ferry Road Bridge, this two-lane ramp has docks and paved parking.
Southmount Abbotts Creek Boat Access
Located at the end of the Wildlife Recreation Area Access Road, this multi-lane concrete ramp offers a dock and ample paved parking.
York Hill Yadkin River Access
This is a small, primitive launch area with limited parking. It is located in the upper north northeast corner of the lake.
2070 National Forest Boating Access
This is a primitive boat launch ramp with limited parking.
Hanging Dog Boat Ramp
This two-lane boat ramp has a dock and unimproved parking.
Hiwassee - Mickens Boat Ramp
Plenty of paved parking and a boat dock enhance this two-lane launch ramp. It is located at the southern end of Michen Branch road in the northwest sector of the lake.
Ramsey Bluff Boating Access
This is a primitive boat launch ramp with limited parking.
North Carolina Public Boat Launch
This small, concrete, one-lane ramp has a dock and nine paved parking spots. It is located immediately north of the McGhees Mill Road.
Crosswinds Boat Ramp
This small, three-lane, concrete launch ramp is located at the south end of the Farmington Road Bridge. It has limited, gravel parking.
Ebenezer Boat Ramp
Located at the north end of the Beaver Creek Road Bridge, this four-lane, concrete ramp has two docks and plenty of paved parking.
Farrington Point Boat Ramp
Two docks and plenty of paved parking offers a four-lane ramp. There is also a portage ramp for small, non-motorized boats.
New Hope Boat Ramp
Three docks and six concrete ramps are supported with plenty of paved parking at this launch in the lower part of the main lake basin. Access is via W.H. Jones Road from Pea Ridge Road.
Parkers Creek Boat Ramp
This is a small concrete ramp with limited parking. It is located at the end of Parkers Creek Recreation Road, off I-64.
Poe's Ridge Boat Ramp
Located at the extreme southern tip of the lake, this launch includes three concrete ramps, a dock and paved parking for more than fifty vehicles with trailers. Access is via Moncure School Road from the Jordan Dam Road.
Poplar Point Boat Ramp
Located in Jordan Lake State Recreation Area, this is a four-lane, concrete launch ramp with paved parking for about fifty vehicles.
Seaforth Boat Ramp
This six-lane, concrete launch ramp has docks and plentiful parking. It is located off I-64 at Seaforth.
Vista Point Boat Launch
Excellent paved parking and two docks enhance this four-lane boat launch ramp, located at the east end of N. Pea Ridge Road.
County Line Boat Ramp
This two-lane concrete boat launch ramp is located in County Line Park. It includes docks and paved parking.
Flemingtown Boat Ramp
Located at the end of Flemingtown Road, on the eastern side of the lake, this three-lane ramp has three docks and ample unpaved parking.
Henderson Point Boat Ramp
Located in the northeast corner of the NC portion of the lake, this two-lane concrete launch ramp features a dock and plenty of paved parking. Access is via Rev Henderson Road.
Hibernia Boat Ramp
Located in the Kerr Lake State Park, on the west side of the lake, this two-lane, concrete launch ramp has a dock and ample, paved parking.
Kerr Reservoir Boat Ramp
Located at the west end of the Nutbrush Road Bridge, there are two boat launch ramps. One is a four-lane, concrete ramp with two docks and oodles of parking. The other is a single-lane ramp with one dock and paved parking for ten vehicles with trailers.
Kimball Point Boat Ramp
Located on Kimball Point, on the east side of the lake, just south of the state line, this is a simple, one-lane, concrete ramp with primitive parking.
Satterwhite Boat Ramp
Located on Satterwhite Point, this is a two-lane launch ramp with a dock. The paved parking is not at the ramp, but nearby.
Lake Cammack Park & Marina
This is a small, multi-lane, concrete boat launch ramp. It has primitive parking and docks. It is located on the east side of the road, at the end of Cammack Road.
Lake Crabtree Boat Ramp
Located in Crabtree County Park, mid lake on the north side of the lake, this is a two-lane launch ramp, with a dock and limited, paved parking..
Salmon Landing
This is a small, concrete ramp with a dock, located just east of the Highway 903 Bridge. The parking is limited, and unimproved.
Summit Landing
Located at the end of Bluebird Lane, in the southeast corner of the lake, this is a two-lane, concrete ramp with gravel parking.
Powerhouse Boat Launch
This is a small, concrete boat launch ramp with a dock and limited gravel parking. It is located in the very northeast corner of the lake.
Dusty Ridge Access Road Boat Ramp
Located in the northeast sector of the lake, this two-lane, concrete ramp includes a dock and paved parking.
Gunpowder Boat Ramp
Located at the south end of Hurricane Hill Road, in the northwest sector of the lake, this is a very nice two-lane launch ramps. It includes two docks and plenty of paved parking.
Wittenburg Access Area
Located west of the N Center Street Bridge, off Wildlife Access Road, this six-lane, concrete boat launch ramp has three docks and paved parking for up to 300 vehicles.
Black Bear Boat Ramp
Plenty of paved parking, a six-lane concrete launch ramp, and three docks make this boat access a favorite. It is located in the northwest sector of the lake, at the convergence of Yancey Road and Lake James Road.
Canal Bridge Boat Ramp
This three-lane, concrete launch ramp is located at the end of James Ave, just south of the Highway 126 Bridge. It has a dock and plenty of paved parking.
Hidden Cove Public Boat Access
Located mid lake, on the south side of the lake off Highway 126, this small, two-lane ramp has limited paved parking and a boat dock.
Linville Boat Ramp
Located at the northern tip of the lake, off highway 126, this is a two-lane, concrete ramp with a dock and convenient, paved parking.
Lake Mackintosh Marina
Located just south of the Huffman Mill Road Bridge, on the south side of the lake, this is a multi-lane launch ramp with docks and ample parking.
Lake Mattamuskeet Boat Ramp
Located at the intersection of Piney Woods Road and Turnpike Road, on the west side of the lake, is a small boat ramp and dock with primitive parking.
Nantahala Lake Boat Ramp
This small, but efficient, one-lane boat ramp has a dock and limited, paved parking. Access this launch area via Big Choga Road
Nantahala Lake Rocky Branch Access Area
Centrally located, on the south side of the lake, this is a two-lane boat ramp with a dock and gravel parking. Access is via Wayah Road.
Beatty's Ford Access
Located along the southwest shore of the lake, at the end of Unity Church Road, this four-lane, concrete ramp has two docks and plenty of paved parking.
Blythe Landing Park Boat Launch
Located in the southeast corner of the lake, off Highway 73, this access point has a six-lane, concrete ramp with several docks and plentiful, paved parking.
Hager Creek Access Area
This four-lane, concrete boat launch ramp, with two docks, and tons of paved parking, is centrally located on the east shore of the lake, off McKendree Road.
Lake Norman State Park Boat Ramp
Nestled in the Lake Norman State Park, in the northern sector of the lake, this two-lane, concrete ramp with a dock and sufficient paved parking.
Little Creek Access Area
Paved parking and a dock enhance this two-lane boat launch ramp on the west side on the lake, mid lake.
Long Island Road Boat Ramp
Located in the northeast corner of the lake, off Long Island Road, this is a two-lane, con\crete ramp with a dock and ample, paved parking.
Ramsey Creek Boat Ramp
Located in Ramsey Creek Park, in the southeast sector of the lake, find this multi-lane, concrete ramp with paved parking.
Queen's Landing Boat Ramp
Located in the McCrary Creek Access Area, the Queen's Landing Boat Ramp is a four-lane, concrete ramp with two docks and paved parking. This access area is one-quarter mile east of the River Highway Bridge.
Stumpy Creek Boat Landing
This two-lane, concrete boat launch ramp, with a dock and ample paved parking is located in the northeast corner of the lake, at the end of Stumpy Creek Road.

Lilly’s Bridge Access Area
Located just south of the bridge, this is a well appointed boat launch access point. It has plenty of paved parking, three docks and a two-lane concrete ramp.
Morrow Mountain Boat Launch
Located on the west side of the lake, in the northwest corner of the lake, this access point is at the end of Morrow Mountain Road. It is a small, concrete, one-lane ramp with a dock and ample paved parking.
Norwood Boat Access
With gravel parking for over two dozen vehicles with trailers, plus a dock, this two-lane boat launch ramp serves visitors to the west side of the lake via Lakeshore Drive.
Stony Mountain Access Area
It is situated at the south end of Lake Tillery Road, mid lake, on the west side of the lake. The two-lane boat ramp has a dock and paved parking for thirty or more vehicles.
Swift Island Lake Tillery Boat Access
Located at the convergence of Highway 27 and Highway 73, in the east sector of the lake, this is a four-lane, concrete ramp with two docks and tons of paved parking.
NC Wildlife Boat Ramp
Paved parking, a dock and a two-lane, concrete boat ramp make for easy launching here. It is located mid lake on the west side of the lake off Wooded Acres Road.
Lake Wheeler Boat Ramp
Situated just west of the Lake Wheeler Dam, on the north side of the lake, this five-lane, concrete ramp has four docks and ample paved parking.
Southpoint Boat Ramp
Take County Road 2525 south to Boat Launch Road for access into the southern end of the Catawawba River arm of the lake. Two concrete boat launches with three lanes each and two docks each serve boaters. There is plenty of paved parking as well.
Triple Springs Access Area
Located in Mayo Lake Park, mid lake on the east side of the lake, this three-lane, concrete boat ramp has four docks and a large gravel area for parking.
John H Moss Lake Recreation Park
This eight-lane, concrete boat launch ramp features multiple docks and paved parking. It is located in the southwest corner of the lake, off Oak Grove Road.
Mountain Island Kayak Access
Located at the north end of 60' Access Road, in the eastern sector of the lake, this access has parking, a portage area and a dock.
Neck Road Boat Ramp
Situated on the northeast sector of the lake, off Duke Access Road, this two-lane, concrete launch ramp has a dock and sufficient, paved parking.
Riverbend Boat Ramp
Locates immediately east of the NC Highway 16, on the north side of the lake, this access is nicely appointed with a four-lace, concrete ramp, two docks and a generous amount of paved parking.
Randleman Regional Reservoir Marina
Enjoy this three-lane, concrete launch ramp with two docks and ample, paved parking. It is located on the east side of the lake, off Adams Farm Road which runs next to I-73.
Castle Bridge Boat Access
Located immediately east of Castle Bridge, on the north side of the lake, this six-lane, concrete launch ramp has three docks and parking for over 150 vehicles.
Conley Creek Boating Access Area
Paved parking and and two docks, support this two-lane boat launch ramp. It is located at the south end of Waterworks Road, on the north side of the lake, in Sawmill Veterans Park.
Rhodhiss Lake Boat Launch
Plenty of paved parking, a dock and two-lane boat ramp make this an ideal boat access. It is located on the south side of the lake, across the bay from the dam.
5th Street Boat Landing
Located at the north end of West 5th Street, in the southeast corner of the lake, this two-lane, concrete boat ramp has docks and plentiful, paved parking.
Thelma Boating Access
Located in the southwest corner of the lake, on Van Warren Road, this one-lane, concrete ramp has a dock and gravel parking.
Avey Branch Boat Ramp
This is a small concrete boat ramp with unimproved parking. It is located in the northwest corner of the lake, off Joyce Kilmer Road.
Blue Boar Boat Launch
This is a primitive launch ramp and parking. It does have a dock. It is located in the southwest corner of the lake off Blue Boar Road.
Cheoah Point Boating Access
This single-lane, concrete ramp has a dock and limited, paved parking. It is situated in the north-central portion of the lake, on Cheoah Point Road.
Massey Branch Boat Launch
Located in the southeast corner of the lake, off Cherohala Skyway Highway, this dual-lane, concrete ramp with a dock and paved parking.
Sutton Lake Boating Access
Located mid lake, on the east side of the lake, this is a two-lane, concrete ramp with three docks and gravel parking.
Bend of the River Road Boat Ramp
This is a small (but efficient), unimproved boat launch with gravel parking. It is located just south of the Bend of the River Road Bridge, on the west side of the bridge.
Tar River Reservoir Ramp
Located at the south end of the South Old Carriage Road Bridge, in the western arm of the lake, this is a two-lane, concrete ramp with a dock and gravel parking.
