Popular Fish Species Caesar Creek Lake, OH
Largemouth Bass

Current Report: Poor To Fair
Outlook: Good To Very Good
Largemouth bass fishing is reported good throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall in Caesar Creek from Caesar Creek State Park Campground to the Young Road Boat Ramp. Largemouth prefer the murkier water in the northern section of the lake. The two major coves on the east side of the lake have notable amounts of brush and cover, and have been producing some nice catches. Stick worms are a popular choice here for finicky bass.
Smallmouth Bass

Current Report: Good To Very Good
Outlook: Very Good
Smallies tend to like a bit cleaner water and primarily concentrate on the southern portion of the lake. Locals are reporting good shallow bites from the Caesar Creek Lake Dam to Harveysburg. Rocky or gravel banks are particularly good. Mid-range crankbaits, like the Rapala DT-6, are a good way to cover lots of water and the smallmouth eat them up.
Black Crappie

Current Report: Fair To Good
Outlook: Good
Crappie fishing has been good in Caesar Creek Lake virtually anywhere you can find brush in 4' to 10' of water, during the warm months. Most of the action is north of the Highway 73 bridge. Spring is the premiere time to be on the water as crappie move into shallow coves to spawn. Docks, brush, wood, vegetation are a good place to cast small crappie jigs or live minnows. Light tackle with 4-pound line is ideal. Locals report good success using fish finders to locate schools of crappie..
