Located 100 miles northeast of Mazatlan in the state of Sinaloa, Comedero is one of the older bass fishing waters in Mexico. Bass in the "teens" are fairly common with the lake record over eighteen pounds.

Travel To Comedero

The ideal way to reach Comedero is via airline to Mazatlan. If you choose to travel by ground, follow Mexico Highway 15 south from Nogales, for 625 miles to the city of Culiacán. Then travel the three or four-hour trip to the lake on back roads.

However, there are reports of unrest and violence between competing drug cartels, and Mexico law enforcement. Most of this activity in confined to areas away from the bass fishing lakes. Some of the border towns and population centers in Mexico experience higher than normal levels of crime and violence. Often, American border town information centers can advise regarding cartel activity in neighboring Mexico border towns. It is always best to caravan, stay on the main highways and be aware of what's going on around you.
