The bass fishing lakes in Mexico have very little fishing pressure, compared to most bass lakes in the USA. They also have abundant food supplies to grow both quality and quantity largemouth bass. The tropical climate allows for the ideal growing conditions with long seasons of warm waters, often year round.

Mexico Bass Fishing Lakes

There are a dozen or so major lakes commonly fished by Americans in the central and northern regions of Mexico. Travel to these lakes may include a combination of some modern highways and a few, country, back roads. See Mexico bass fishing lakes map for lake locations. These back roads are often dirt with varying levels of maintenance. Travel times estimated in this website are based on good weather, good roads and normal traffic.

Angostura

From Douglas, Arizona travel south for a three-hour drive on dirt road, following a wash to this little-fished lake. Bass fishing at La Angostura is good for medium to large bass in good enough numbers to make you want to come back.

Aguamilpa

Located in the state of Nayarit, Mexico, this 70,000 surface acre lake can produce exceptional catches of bass. One hundred bass per day is common and you always have a chance at a trophy when bass fishing at Aguamilpa.

Baccarac

It can take 15 hours or more to arrive for bass fishing at Baccarac Lake in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. But can be worth every minute. The lake has produced twenty pound bass and still holds monster bass.

Comedero

Located in the state of Sinaloa, north of Mazatlan, Comedero bass fishing is a rugged adventure with rewards a plenty. This lake receives less pressure than other Mexico bass lakes and consistently produces trophy bass.

El Cuchillo

Less than two hours from McAllen, Texas, El Cuchillo bass fishing offers a mixture of both quality and quantity. 42,000 surface acres provides plenty of water for all anglers.

El Salto

Bass fishing at El Salto is open from mid September to the end of July, with May and June being prime time for monster bass. The lake is located in the state of Sinaloa so it is a sixteen hour drive from the US border at Nogales.

Guerrero

An afternoon drive from the southern tip of Texas, Guerrero bass fishing provides Florida-strain, giant bass. This lake is loaded with cover.

Huites

Located in the state of Sinaloa, this 30,000 surface acre lake, is loaded with plenty of big bass. Huites bass fishing will load your boat with memories.

Mateos

Drive or fly to this bass fishing mecca where big bass await your presentation. Enjoy excellent bass fishing at Mateos Lake, Mexico in the state of Sinaloa.

Novillo

Bass fishing at Novillo lake, located in the state of Sonora, Mexico is an easy day drive from Tucson Arizona.

Obregon Lake (lake Oviachic)

Located in the state of Sonora, nine hours south of the US border, Oviachic bass fishing is some of the best bass fishing in the world.

Travel Warnings

Any time you travel outside the USA, be aware that you are subject to local law governing the area you are to visit. As a general rule, travel to lakes in Mexico is considered safe. However, there are reports of unrest and violence between competing drug cartels, and Mexico law enforcement. Most of this activity in confined to areas away from the bass fishing lakes. Some of the border towns and population centers in Mexico experience higher than normal levels of crime and violence. Often, American border town information centers can advise regarding cartel activity in neighboring Mexico border towns. It is always best to caravan, stay on the main highways and be aware of what's going on around you.
